Query rules
Query rules decide exactly what comes up for specific searches. Use them for your most popular searches, campaigns, and searches that should go straight to a page.
Manage them on Merchandising › Search › Query rules.
When a rule applies
Each rule starts with the words it applies to:
- Exactly: the search is exactly these words.
- Contains the words: the search includes these words, among others.
What a rule can do
- Send shoppers to a page instead
- Skip the results page and go straight to a URL on your store, such as
/pages/size-guidefor "size chart". With search suggestions on, pressing Enter in the search box goes straight there. - Show first, in this order
- Products that lead the results in the order you list them. Up to 50.
- Pin at a position
- Products fixed at a specific position in the results. Up to 50.
- Never show for this search
- Products left out of these results only. Up to 100.
Scheduling a rule
Open Schedule on a rule to set when it applies, in your shop's time zone. For example, you could send "gifts" to your gift guide only in December. Outside that time the rule does nothing.
Examples
- When the search is exactly
gift card, send shoppers to/products/gift-card. - When the search contains
linen, show this season's linen shirts first. - When the search contains
dress, never show the dress-shirt that keeps sneaking in.
Limits
Up to 300 rules. Rules go live when you save.
